Bonnie Clowser Estate Auction Catalog
Obituary, Bonnie Jean Clowser, Born April 1st, 1936.
Bonnie was born in Nampa, Idaho, the first child of Roy and Rose Hanson.  She had two siblings, Nancy and her husband Johnny, of Colville, Washington and Roger and his wife Jennie of El Paso, Texas. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Roy & Rose Hanson, her in-laws Willie & Erma Clowser, her sister Nancy Hedrick, and her oldest son Ray Clowser.
Bonnie & Jack raised 3 children: Debbie, Ray & Gary, and provided a loving home for three fostered siblings Rachel, Geneva, and Tony Kochenower.
She was loved by 8 Grandchildren: Kesha Copeland & husband Nathan, Jared Knox, Eric Clowser & wife Shawna, Brad Clowser & wife Chelsea, Sheri Brittan & husband Jeremiah, Brian Clowser & wife Jordan, Daren Clowser & wife Alison, and Vicki Clowser.
She had 19 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, and she relished her role as “Aunt Bonnie” to her nieces and nephews. But even more amazing was the countless adopted children and grandchildren that she accumulated and shared her love with over her lifetime. All her friends were special to her, but Geneva Knopp-Welke and Bonnie shared an extraordinary friendship and bond.
Hundreds simply knew her as Grandma or Grandma Bonnie. Everyone who she shared her love with, knew who she loved the most! And the answer was YOU!
Bonnie was born into a hard-working farm family where she quickly learned the value of hard work and how to get the job at hand done. She attended a small two room community school where she was the 8th grade class Valedictorian, then attended Nampa High School to complete her education after she married.
She married Jack J. Clowser in 1952 when she was 16 years of age & they experienced more in their 43 years of marriage than most enjoy in a lifetime, until Jack’s passing in 1995.
They shared many adventures including choosing to serve God in 1960; farming, logging, tending a dairy herd, raising a family, purchasing and running a shoe repair shop. Since the early age of 12, Bonnie mastered the skill of interior decorating including a lot of painting, staining and wallpapering.  Bonnie & Jack started a Mobile Home sales business from scratch, built a trailer park, opened a new & used furniture store, then added a carpet & flooring department, and soon added an excavation division. They both worked to obtain their private pilot’s licenses, and they got licensed to buy and sell new and used airplanes. They sold their businesses in the early 70’s due to Jack’s health. The couple enjoyed their extended annual vacations to the Hawaiian Islands.
In the late 70’s they opened a family ran 18,000 square foot furniture store in Colville, WA.  The family built the building themselves, and along the way they added a used car lot, sold kitchen cabinets, clothing and more. Eventually the family decided it was time to liquidate the business, this single decision ended up leading to a whole new adventure for Bonnie & family. The liquidation company hired Bonnie and Gary to manage liquidation sales and later employed Jack, Ray and many other extended family members and residents of Colville. This occupation required moving to a new community every 4 months where Bonnie either connected with old friends or made new ones. In the early 90’s she and Jack moved to Spokane to be close to Ray & Gary’s families and to help Gary run his furniture businesses and auctioneering services. This led to Gary purchasing the Furniture Factory in Lebanon, Oregon in 1998, of which Bonnie was heavily involved in every aspect of helping make the business successful. When Gary sold the business in 2015, Bonnie helped Gary conduct auctions and remodel many homes, including the house that she has called home for the past 10 years.  She also assisted her grandson Daren, with his furniture store, and rentals in nearby Albany OR.
Her hobbies & interests were many; ceramics, crafts, oil & acrylic painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, berry picking, traveling, camping, family reunions, and photography-especially taking photos of old barns and family. But one of her greatest joys in life was playing games, she simply never passed up an opportunity to compete. If she didn’t know the rules, she would make them up! And anyone who played games with her knew, she would never cheat, the thought would not even cross her mind, it just was not in her DNA! She played to win, and her motto was “ONLY CHEAT WHEN NECESSARY”.
She loved to share her talents and skills with others. She taught oil & acrylic painting classes, gave many sewing lessons, passed on her gardening skills to her kids, grandkids and even great grandkids, but best of all she liked to teach her grandkids how to drive. This was not your normal drivers ed type of driving lessons.  She would take them to the cemetery for driving experience and training, her explanation was “they couldn’t hurt anyone there, everyone was already dead”.
Anyone that was around her for any amount of time, realized she was a woman that could do anything, drive a semi-truck or operate heavy equipment, build or remodel a house, milk the cows, do the farming, butcher animals, fly an airplane, sell anything, fix or repair everything, raise a family, throw a party, play the piano, sing, pick berry’s, make jam, clean… you name it she could do it. The woman could not swim or give directions to save her life, but she did embrace technology, and thank goodness because GPS saved hours of traveling in circles for those on the receiving end of her giving directions.
She has left a legacy, of faith, grace, and love for all those that were her friends, family or adopted family. Even though she had countless numbers of special people in her life, her family and especially her grandchildren never lacked for attention, love or support. Her family knew she had a favorite! And she would make sure that you knew it was “YOU”.

P.S. Bonnie would never let you forget her birthday, she often said it should be a national holiday. Sunday’s and her birthday were the only days she would take a break. She looked forward to receiving cards, letters or phone calls, but best of all she loved to April Fool you, her pranks are legendry and never forgotten. This year on April 1st, we’re going to try to get the last laugh…… Because she can’t get us back. So don’t forget to call her on her birthday!
